Here lies Lyall Herrod-Herring.
Here lies Lyall Herrod-Herring.

An hour out of Broken Hill stands this lone tree. Rumour goes that beneath it, lies the body of Lyall Herrod-Herring.  Model train enthusiasts will know his name well as Herrod-Herring is the man responsible for designing the miniature trees and shrubs manufactured by model train company, Hornby and used extensively in just about every model train diorama ever made.
He was buried here by his Filipino wife, Terry for no other reason than convenience, she later told the court. Lyall was still alive at the time of his burial but he was an obsequious man and did everything for her.

The lush red soil around Broken Hill supports a unique ecology of small lizards and marsupials who will later grow to become the politicians who run our fine nation. People who enjoy LSD also enjoy the Kaleidoscopic landscape with it’s myriad of colours and textures unique to the area. Personal GPS devices and a good size water bottle are recommended while viewing as much wandering can occur. (And it’s totally worth it!)
